Have you been curious about different yarn options at YFK but not ready to splurge on a skein or sweater quantity of yarn?
On three Sundays in March (3/12, 3/19, and 3/26) we will host yarn tastings of a selection of the yarns we offer. You will receive reelings of eight different yarns in different weights, fibers, and colors to sample while we discuss what the various yarns are especially good for… outerwear, neckwear, sweaters, hats, colorwork, and more, as well as origin stories and interesting facts about the different yarn companies. We’d also love to hear what you’ve used different yarn for, or your ideas for future projects!
We’ll start to gather for each tasting at 5pm and begin the discussion and sampling around 5:15pm. Can’t come ‘til later? No worries, jump right in and catch up on the ones you missed later or through the handouts we will prepare and share! Can’t make these dates? Also no worries! You can come by and purchase a tasting-to-go. And if we learn of ongoing interest in tastings we are happy to host more in the future.
We will cap each tasting at max 10 attendees in order for everyone to sit comfortably together in the front of our shop. This tasting is suited for knitters or crocheters who are already comfortable with their craft (beginners welcome). Meaning, it’s not a session on how to knit/crochet but rather a hands-on discussion about yarn. The tasting fee is for the yarn samples. We will also offer specials from the wine bar if you’d like to sample and snack.
Featured yarn: Allegria Grande (Manos del Uruguay), Baby Yak/Organic Cotton (mYak), Cashmere Lace (mYak), Colorspun (Buckwheat Bridge), Footprints (Wool Addicts), Germantown (Kelbourne Woolens), Mohair So Soft (Loopy Mango), and Proper Sock (cowgirlblues). (Yarn selection subject to change, but not expected to.)
Hosts: Jocelyn + Todd
Tasting size: Up to 10 attendees each Sunday (yarn samples in the month of March will be the same all three Sundays)
Tasting Fee: $22
